Scientists at Boston University have mixed the Omicron spike protein with the Alpha variant first released from the Wuhan lab. The Omicron spike protein is widely recognized as the most infectious variant to date though the associated symptoms are the least severe as is common with any virus. The Alpha variant was the first version unleashed on the world and was the most lethal of them all. In testing, ten mice were infected with the new “super variant” and eight of them died. Naturally, there has been an uproar from many critics who question why anyone is making more deadly hybrid versions of covid and who condemn the practice of “Gain of Function” research out right.
You are probably asking why in God’s name are they allowed to continue the long scrutinized gain of function research and why is it happening in the United States. These are both great questions which might find answers in the next question. Why would they even want to make this Frankenstein strain? The researchers have studied the effects of the various variants on overall health and lungs and wanted to see how mice fared against the new hybrid strain compared to the original Omicron variant. While there are some who still believe the narrative that the Alpha variant came from a wet market, I am not among them. I believe the evidence supports claims that it leaked from the Wuhan lab. I also won’t accuse these scientists or the government of planning to unleash this or any deadly disease but our government gained a lot of power as a result of the pandemic and I know that the government hates giving it up. Recent polls and the declining number of people getting every jab on the market indicate that the fear associated with it has all but gone away. Omicron is looked at like the common flu. Now if by accident or otherwise, this new man-made variant leaked out it would no doubt send a lot of people running right back into the warm embrace of their government overlords.
What can’t be questioned is that participating in any gain of function research is playing with fire and this lethal variant combination is exactly that. One of the leading Israeli Scientist, Professor Shmuel Shapira said 'This should be totally forbidden, it's playing with fire.' According to Professor David Livermore, who is a professor of microbiology at the UK's University of East Anglia, 'given the strong likelihood that the Covid pandemic originated from the escape of a lab-manipulated coronavirus in Wuhan, these experiments seem profoundly unwise.' Unfortunately, the lab at Boston University's NEID Laboratories, is one of 13 biosafety level 4 labs in the US. Since 2020, 40 new biochemical labs that handle dangerous viruses have been built around the world. Those are ones we know about. This practice was outlawed in the US between 2014-2017 but the NIH brought it back.
There is no evidence to date that the research was conducted improperly or unsafely and it was approved by the University’s internal biosafety review committee and the Boston’s Public Health Commission. It was not cleared with the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases despite them being one of the funders of the project. According to NIAID Director Emily Erbelding, “the team’s original grant applications did not specify that the scientists wanted to do this precise work. Nor did the group make clear that it was doing experiments that might involve enhancing a pathogen of pandemic potential in the progress reports it provided to NIAID.” The research has not been peer reviewed but there are some with the team who defend this, claiming their study made the virus less effective because it only killed 80% of the mice while the alpha variant from Wuhan killed 100%. What they are not saying is that the Alpha was not nearly as infectious as Omicron is and now you have a variant to do almost as much damage as the alpha with the spreading power of Omicron. This is madness.
So, how much more lethal is this new man-made variant then Omicron? Researchers found the hybrid strain produced five times more viral particles than the original Omicron. The University scientist found “80 percent of mice died from the new man-made Covid strain, while none died from the milder Omicron variant alone.” Similar rodents were exposed to the standard Omicron strain and all survived, experiencing 'mild' symptoms. Researchers wrote ‘In...mice, while Omicron causes mild, non-fatal infection, the Omicron S-carrying virus inflicts severe disease with a mortality rate of 80 percent.’ The researchers claimed that this signaled while the spike protein is responsible for infectivity, other parts determine how lethal it is. There is no good reason for anyone to begin making these Frankenstein variants and if for any reason they get into the public, this would cause an untold amount of damage and we would find ourselves in a similar situation to two years ago. I just hope that is not someone’s sick plan.
