Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, has been in the wrong every step of the way and his move to illegally give himself dictatorial powers is yet another one. The Prime Minister has shown himself to be a power-hungry dictator in training since he took office. Trudeau has used the pandemic to seize power more effectively than most world leaders. He has pushed more lockdowns and mandates than almost any Country. While taking a knee with BLM and calling convicted terrorist Canadians, he has called peaceful protesters to his power grabs racists and misogynists. After the truckers had spent the last two years keeping Canada running he decided to put in mandates which made it impossible for unvaccinated truckers to work. When the freedom convoy first started and was on its way to the Capital, Trudeau said "The small fringe minority of people who are on their way to Ottawa who are holding unacceptable views that they are expressing do not represent the views of Canadians who have been there for each other, who know that following the science and stepping up to protect each other is the best way to continue to ensure our freedoms, our rights, our values, as a country." When that "small fringe minority'' showed up with thousands of trucks and even more people, the Prime Minister ran and hid, fleeing the city, claiming he was exposed and then tested positive for COVID. He then continued to try and demonize the peaceful protesters by claiming they were racists Nazis and violent, despite no violent occurring. He has continued to blame them for protesting and refused to meet with them in any form.
On Monday, Trudeau announced that he planned to invoke an Emergencies Act and become a full on Dictator who could arrest people, seize property, force tow companies to give their equipment up, freeze bank accounts of protesters, trucking companies, and the people who support them. There is no practical or legal justification for any of this. The Emergencies Act has never been enacted by any Prime Minister. It wasn't even enacted on 9/11. There is zero justification that it should be used for some protesters who have not been violent in any way.
Trudeau claimed on Monday that protests aren't peaceful, that law enforcement needs help, and that they are hurting the economy. While truckers who blocked bridges to the US may have hurt the pockets of mega-companies, like Ford, they are not hurting the average Canadian citizen. It is especially hypocritical to hear someone who has pushed job-crushing, economy-draining lockdowns claim to care about the economy. The Prime Minister claimed the Emergencies Act would be for a limited time and used in a targeted and proportionate way but considering there is nothing proportionate about evoking it for peaceful protests, and if used it will give him more power, one can't take his word as fact. His poll numbers are at an all-time low with only 16% of Canadians claiming they would vote for him after this. Someone that the people want out of power isn't just going to hand it over...
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Chrystia Freeland (to the left) got up next and took the attack on freedom and the protesters to a whole new level. She said "We are announcing the following immediate actions. First, we are broadening the scope of Canada's anti-money laundering and terrorist financing rules so that they cover crowdfunding platforms and the payment service providers they use. These changes cover all forms of transactions including digital assets such as cryptocurrencies. The illegal blockades have highlighted the fact that crowdfunding platforms and some of the payment service providers they use are not fully captured under the proceeds of crime and terrorist financing act. Our banks and financial institutions are already obligated to report to the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Center of Canada or FinTrac. As of today, all crowdfunding platforms and the payment service providers they use must register with FinTrac and they must report large and suspicious transactions to FinTrac." She also claimed that as of today, the bank or other financial service providers will be able to immediately freeze or suspend any account without a court order.``
In simpler terms, the Trudeau administration is now claiming that these peaceful protesters are the same as violent terrorists and are threatening to stop private crowdfunding platforms like GiveSendGo and others including those who use cryptocurrencies' ability to distribute donated funds and force them to register and report transactions that they deem "large" or "suspicious". GiveSendGo, a Christan-minded company, will probably not take this lying down. Several days ago Ontario Premier Doug Ford and the Superior Court of Justice tried to block the company from distributing 8.5 million dollars in funds donated for the truckers and the GiveSendGo said "Know this! Canada has absolutely ZERO jurisdiction over how we manage our funds here at GiveSendGo. All funds for EVERY campaign on GiveSendGo flow directly to the recipients of those campaigns, not least of which is The Freedom Convoy campaign." The US Government has also been attempting to block transitions. Meanwhile, Tallycoin also raised 1.5 Million in Bitcoin to try and send financial aid to the truckers.
The Trudeau administration is also threatening to freeze personal accounts of protesters, freeze corporate accounts of their trucking companies, and suspend their insurances. Make no mistake, they have been trying to shut the protests down since they began and this threat is just another attempt at doing so. The truckers and the Canadians Citizens have shown a resolve to be admired and proved they are here to stay. The premiers of Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Quebec have all come forward and stated that they don't support the prime minister's use of the act. They claimed that their local law enforcement could handle the protests, that they did not want or need the help, and that using it would not be helpful to their efforts to try and resolve the issue.
The Justice Center for Constitutional Freedoms provides legal representation for the organizers and said they will immediately file to overturn the act if it is passed. Litigation Director Jay Cameron said "Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau used the War Measures Act in 1970 to deal with violence, kidnapping, and murder committed by terrorists in Quebec. Today, [his son] Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is considering using the Emergencies Act to deal with bouncy castles and ball hockey,"..."Peaceful protesters who feed the homeless, shovel snow, pick up garbage, dance in the streets, play street hockey, wave Canadian flags, sing the national anthem and set up bouncy castles for children do not 'seriously endanger the lives, health or safety of Canadians,' nor are these peaceful activities 'of such proportions or nature as to exceed the capacity or authority of a province to deal with it.'"
Conservative Pundit, Tucker Carlson, said "Let's be clear. This is a defining moment in the history of Canada and the history of the English-speaking West. The Emergencies Act is Martial Law. It has never been invoked in the history of that Country. By law, the Emergencies Act is allowed only in emergencies. In quote, urgent and critical situations that seriously endanger the lives, health, or safety of Canadians. What's happening now does not qualify. What's happening in Canada now, is not an emergency...According to Justin Trudeau, everyone you saw in that tape is a terrorist. Even the kids in the bouncy houses. Justin Trudeau has unilaterally revoked their civil liberties and authorized men with automatic weapons to haul them to jail...Trudeau now has the power to seize their bank accounts and the insurance companies to cancel their insurance. That means they can't actually live in Canada anymore. They are non-persons. They're enemies of the State and they will be crushed."
The leaders of the protests said in a press conference Monday that this is a bluff. That Trudeau has to get this to pass parliament for it to go into effect. They claimed this was yet another scare tactic and implored the protesters to stay in Ottawa and hold the line until the mandates are lifted Countrywide, which was their goal from the start. Vaccine Mandates have already been dropped in Ontario, Alberta, and Saskatchewan. They also said they are still getting donations and are able to support those who are protesting in the Capital. Currently, there are still hundreds of trucks and thousands of people standing firm in Ottawa with no plans to leave.
